LUGO, Italy – Disturbing pictures of a nurse accused of murdering her “annoying” patients emerged and is drawing a lot of anger from the netizens.

Daniela Poggiali, a 42-year-old nurse, was arrested last month after police linked her to the mysterious death of a patient. The patient, Rosa Calderoni, 78 years old, was admitted to Umberto I hospital in Lugo, Italy. The patient was diagnosed with a routine illness, but apparently died when she was injected with fatally high levels of potassium.

During police investigation, 38 other unexplained deaths were found out, all of which happened during her shifts.

The shocking photos taken by a colleague shows Poggiali looking delighted as she gives the camera a thumbs up in her nurses’ scrubs. She was standing over the hospital bed, next to what is believed to be a dead body of a patient.

In another picture, the nurse apparently imitates a dead patient, as she was seen lying next to the patient with Poggiali’s mouth open.

The photos showing the incident were taken last January by a colleague who claimed to be intimidated and pressured by Poggiali.

“She [Poggiali] was particularly euphoric and wanted to have a photo next to the dead body,” the colleague told police, as reported by Il Corriere della Sera newspaper.

“I didn’t have the courage to say no, as she is a vindictive person. She used to give laxatives to patients only to make life difficult for nurses on the next shift,” she added.

Reports said that both nurses were subsequently fired by Umberto I hospital.

According to police, investigation revealed that Poggiali found all the dead patients to be either “annoying” or had “pushy relatives.”

Alessandro Mancini, who is the lead magistrate for the case, said: “We believe she is sound of mind, but simply took satisfaction, and real pleasure in killing,” talking about the discovered snaps of Poggiali, grinning alongside the dead bodies.

Mancini was so shocked with the pictures as he saw “unbearable cruelty” in it; the degree he has not seen in his 30 years job experience.

Presently, the nurse is awaiting trial at a prison in Forli, a city in central Italy. Surprisingly, the nurse is being flooded with fan mail from admirers; most of them calling her “good looking”.

“Over the last few weeks since she was placed here there has been a steady stream of letters from males. Most of them say how pretty and good looking they think she is, and one or two have even contained proposals of marriage,” a prison spokesman said, as reported by IB Times.

Meanwhile, a spokesman from the hospital where the nurse worked said: “She always came across as being a very cold person.”

“But she also used her charms to flirt with male doctors if she thought she could get favors from them,” the spokesman added.

Poggiali still denied killing any patient; adding that the woman in the photos was alive. She defended herself saying she is being framed by jealous colleagues.
