MANILA – Lyca Jane Gairanod, ‘The Voice Kids’ grand winner humbly looked back on how she celebrated her birthdays before she won the singing competition.
Dressed as Queen Elsa, she said “First time ko lang po mag-birthday nang ganito kasaya. Dati po, noong mahirap pa po kami, mga pansit lang po. Dito po, meron pa pong mga lobo. Yung po sa amin po, walang lobo. Kaya po masayang-masaya po ako sa binigay sa akin ni Papa God na mga blessings.”
(This is my first time to celebrate my birthday this happy. Before, when we were still poor, we used to have pansit. Now, we even have balloons. We did not have balloons before. That’s why I am very happy with all the blessings from Papa God.)
The singing champion who turned 10 last November 21, celebrated a ‘Frozen-themed’ party at a club house of Camella Tierra Nevada in General Trias, Cavite. The two-storey Camella house is part of the grand prize the little singing star has won from ‘The Voice Kids.’ In addition, she received P2million and a recording contract with MCA Universal.
In Lyca’s official Facebook page, a video produced by Awesome Events and Titue Cee Films was posted on Wednesday. The four-minute video showed the preparations for the party and its actual celebration.
The little superstar can be first seen wearing a simple red dress with a pink tiara on her head. She even said “Isa na akong reyna” (I am now a Queen) after she was dolled-up. During the actual program, she came down from a stairs in a blue and Queen Elsa-like dress. Lyca thanked all her friends and family who attended her first grand birthday celebration and sang some parts of the song ‘Let It Go’ from the popular animated movie ‘Frozen.’
Lyca, who grew up in a fishing village in Tanza, Cavite, used to scavenge junk for a living. The humble beginnings of the 10-year-old singing star continue to touch the hearts of many.
