What? A dog has almost 116 million views on Youtube? Yes, Chica, a dog disguised as a giant spider was the most-shared item on Google’s YouTube platform in 2014 as announced last Tuesday by YT regarding its annual list of popular items.
It’s no wonder, actually, as mutant giant spiderdog prank video made 40 million views in just three days from posting.
Chica, the DogSpider, is the work of Polish prankster Sylwester Wardega, who dressed up his pooch in the fur-covered terrifying eight-legged monster costume before releasing her on an unsuspecting public; a prank which made people shriek and run.
Chica didn’t bark at all and actually seemed to enjoy wearing his costume and making people run scared. What more if he knows he topped on YT. How to tell him he’s 2014 most famous?
According to the YouTube blog team,“This year, the list represents the amazing variety of creativity brought to YouTube each day, which can include social commentaries, pranks, advertisements, and thrilling moments from traditional media and big names on YouTube.”
Second on the list was “Nike Football: Winner Stays,” shared nearly a hundred million times as of writing, and which features international stars including Neymar, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Wayne Rooney to name a few.
Nike’s vid was followed by “First Kiss” , a three-minute clip which featured a group of super good-looking strangers lock lips for the first time. Perhaps people wondered how many would actually agree to kiss a stanger?
What’s hot on the music scene
Katy Perry’s “Dark Horse”, Enrique Iglesias’ “Bailando”, and Shakira with Rihanna’s “Can’t Remember to Forget You” were the top three hits for music— to which the YouTube team commented that, “When it comes to music, it was a year of powerful female artists, as you can see from our list of top music videos: Women artists took eight of the top 10 spots.”
On the same announcement, Google disclosed that YouTube has one billion unique users visiting its pages each month.
