MANILA, Philippines – Last year Janet Lim-Napoles celebrated her 50th birthday in jail.  Although used to a lavish way of life for sometime, she opted to celebrate it silently.

Come January 15, she will be  celebrating her 51st birthday. Reporters had the chance to interview her after the hearing for her petition for bail at Sandiganbayan’s Third Division on Friday.

In a GMA News report, she divulged she has no intention to seek for a birthday furlough.

According to her, “Huwag na lang. Eh tatlong division pa ‘yang pagpapaalaman ko, kung pumayag ‘yung isang division, madedeny din naman nung isa pang division, sayang lang yung effort.” (I’d rather not. I would need permission from three divisions, such that, if one division will permit me but another division will deny my request, the effort would be wasted.)

However, she expressed her wish saying, “Gusto ko sana umattend nung mass niya (Pope Francis) sa Luneta, bilang parte ng pag-celebrate ko ng birthday ko…pero ‘di bale na lang, hindi na tayo mag-aask ng furlough.” ( I would like to attend the Pope Francis mass in Luneta as part of my birthday celebration, but never mind, we are not going to ask for a furlough.)
When asked if she has any plan on her birthday she said she might have a simple birthday celebration.
Napoles is  currently detained at the Female Dormitory of  Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig and is facing  plunder and graft cases in Sandiganbayan’s First, Second and Third Division.
