News about the Megastar’s return to her home station has been afloat for quite some time. Last March 14, during the pilot episode of ABS-CBN’s newest show, “Your Face Sounds Familiar”, Sharon Cuneta made her return official.
She gave the audience a sample of the show’s vibe by performing Adele’s “Someone Like You” where Sharon looked and sang the part outstandingly. After her performance, she remarked how great it was to be back in her home station. She also commented how happy she was to be a part of the show.
“I’m very happy to be part of it because I’ve never done anything like it,” she remarked.
The Megastar is one of the three judges in Your Face Sounds Familiar. Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano and Award-winning singer Jed Madela round up the list of the show’s judges. The Kapamilya network’s newest weekend offering was developed by Endemol, the same company behind Deal or No Deal and Pinoy Big Brother.
Your Face Sounds Familiar is participated in by eight contestants; each impersonating iconic local and international singers. Each celebrity participant will be assigned a different singer every week. They must transform their voices and dance routines to match their assignment through the help of their voice and dance coach.
On its pilot episode, the first five participants were introduced by host Billy Crawford.
Singer-actress Karla Estrada, who sang “Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas”, impersonated her idol Sharon Cuneta. Acoustic singer Nyoy Volante was next with his transformation of Michael Jackson. His performance of “Thriller” was complete along with its challenging dance moves. 6Cyclemind’s vocalist Tutti Caringal turned into Freddie Aguilar with a guitar on his hand and wholeheartedly sang Aguilar’s hit song, “Anak”. Maxene Magalona who was dubbed as the Philippines’ Taylor Swift (because of her long list of ex-boyfriends) rocked the stage with “Shake It Off”. Lastly, it was RnB singer Jay R who turned a 360 degree transformation when he performed Pepe Smith’s “Beep Beep” which earned him a standing ovation from the judges.
The celebrity with the most convincing transformation will then receive a cash prize to be given to their chosen charity.
Your Face Sounds Familiar can be watched every Saturday after “Maalala Mo Kaya” and Sundays after “Rated K”.
