Where is Deniece Cornejo now? Since posting bail in September of last year, the much-talked about model over the controversial rape case against It’s Showtime host Vhong Navarro, has reportedly been lying low and have focused on her painting and online selling, as shared in a report by ABS CBN.
She was, however, spotted on Tuesday, May 12, at a media-attended welcome party for American R&B soul singer and songwriter Peabo Bryson at the Resorts World Manila. Bryson held a one-night concert the following night at the Newport Performing Arts Theater of RWM.
ABS-CBN News’ Mario Dumaual, in what seemed to be a random interview, asked Cornejo for some updates on what keeps her busy now to which she replied that she has been busy attending an acting workshop at the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) and is slated to have her recital soon.
Not the first time
It’s not the first time though since she bailed out that Cornejo was spotted at a public event; as in March of this year, the 23-year-old model also surprised everyone when she attended the 31st PMPC Star Awards for Movies at The Theatre of Solaire & Casino.
In a report by GMA, she told the media people who were there that she felt honored she was invited to the event and also disclosed that it was her legal counsel, Atty. Topacio, who encouraged her to go, and even accompanied her; to show to the world that they have nothing to fear and that they are not guilty of the accusations and charges hurled against the model.
It was also reported by PEP.ph in November 2014, two months after she left her detention cell upon posting bail, that Cornejo attended Atty. Ferdinand Topacio’s 48th birthday dinner held at the poolside of Skyway Twin Towers.
Surprisingly, with her in a photo taken by PEP at the celebration is no other than Roxanne Cabañero; one of the women who were reported to have been allegedly raped also by Navarro whose rape charges against the actor-host were also junked by the Department of Justice; the same way that Cornejo’s rape charges against the actor-host were also junked.
Navarro filed serious illegal detention and grave coercion charges against Cornejo, Cedric Lee, and six others who were involved in the mauling incident in January of last year which brought about the detention of Cornejo and the others.
