MANILA, Philippines – Miss Philippines Earth, one of the country’s prestigious beauty pageants, crowned its new winner on May 31 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
Angelia Ong from Manila bested all the other lovely candidates and is this year’s Miss Philippines Earth. She will represent the Philippines in the Miss Earth pageant to be held some time later this year.
The 24-year-old beauty queen was born in Tondo, Manila, but she grew up in Sampaloc. She is currently taking up Marketing Management at the College of St. Benilde. She is also her school’s current Ambassadress of the School of Management and Information Technology.
Ong impressed the judges and the audience during the question and answer portion when Kapamilya singer-actress Zsa Zsa Padilla asked her if she believes about same s*x marriage.
“If the person feels he or she needs to be married to show his or her love, then I don’t mind having [same] s*x marriage. If you feel that that is love, then so be it,” she answered.
She joined Bb. Pilipinas 2011 and won the special award “People’s Choice for the Face of Bb. Pilipinas 2011″.
Apart from joining beauty pageants, she was also one of the hosts of “Istayl Naton” (Our Style); a lifestyle magazine show which aired every Sundays over GMA Network Iloilo.
The other beauties who placed as members of this year’s elemental court are Chanel Olive Thomas, Catherine Joy Marin, Carla Angela Valderrama and Jona Sweett.
