Catholic school teacher charged with sex assault, child endangerment

SOUTH AMBOY, New Jersey – A teacher at a now closed Catholic high school in South Amboy, New Jersey was arrested by authorities after being accused of engaging in sexual activities with her 17-year-old male student; Daily Mail has reported.

Fatima Grupico, 24 years of age, is accused of having sexual intercourse with a teenage male student at Cardinal McCarrick High School, on different occasions between May 4 and May 30.

Grupico is presently unemployed after losing her job when the school closed down at the end of the school year. The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Metuchen said that Cardinal McCarrick High School needs to close down last June 2015 by the end of the school year due to financial difficulties.

The former history teacher is now charged by the Middlesex County prosecutor with sexual assault and child endangerment. She is also being held at the Middlesex county Jail in North Brunswick while awaiting a bail hearing, as confirmed by Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew Carey on Thursday afternoon.

According to Mirror, Grupico apparently spent her free time perfecting the art of the selfie. The teacher’s Pinterest page is filled with dozens of self-portraits showing the teacher on her glasses, while pouting her lips for the camera in her classroom.

Speaking with NJ.com, Prosecutor Carey said that the investigation for the history teacher’s conduct began after school officials notified police about their concerns. He said the investigation is active and continuing and urge anyone who can give information to come forward.

Daily Mail reported that Grupico is from Linden, a city in southeastern Union County, New Jersey. She graduated from Seton Hall University in 2013, finishing Bachelor’s degree in secondary education and teaching.

It was only June of last year when Grupico was hired by Cardinal McCarrick High School for their vacant teaching post for history subject.
