World-renowned theme park chain Disney World has announced its upcoming expansion in line with the 60th anniversary of Disneyland this year.
In a statement made during the D23 EXPO 2015 in Anaheim, California on Saturday, Disney executives revealed that the company will open new attractions at the famous destination; Walt Disney World News has reported on its website.
The new attractions include an enhanced version of the Star Wars experience, a Toy Story Land at Hollywood Studios, and a place called Pandora: The World of Avatar at the Animal Kingdom among others.
“We are creating a jaw-dropping new world that represents our largest single themed land expansion ever,” Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek said; adding that for the Star Wars development alone, visitors will already feel they are entering a far-away galaxy.
This move came along Legoland’s announcement that it will open a park in Melbourne, Australia, in addition to the ones in Dubai, Korea, and Japan that are already under construction.
The Legoland chain has also publicized that some of its parks will offer a number of promos starting this month ranging from discounted entrance rates up to free admissions.
Last June, the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) released the list of top 25 most popular amusement parks in the world for 2014, and among those included in the lineup, 11 are owned by Disney while Legoland failed to grab even a single spot.
The Disneyland Park in Anaheim is the first entertainment attraction opened by Walt Disney’s group, and since it was launched in 1955, the amusement park has already welcomed around 700 million guests.
