There are people who have been blessed with having a deep relationship with their grandmothers — and one of them is Christine Quinn; a woman who made her grandma her bridesmaid as she considers the latter as one of her best friends.

In an interview with Huff Post, Christine said she asked her  89-year-old grandmother Betty Govern, or Nana Betty, to be one of her bridesmaids only a few months before her wedding, “so she didn’t have too much time to think about it.”

She, however, did not expect then that her grandmother will say “yes” because she is too modest and she doesn’t enjoy being the center of attention.

“She asked me about 10 times, ‘Are you sure?’ and ‘Why would you want an old lady in your bridal party?'” Christine shared. “A few times she even said ‘All of your bridesmaids are young and pretty, why would you want me?'”

“Obviously, Nana is beautiful too. Just look at those photos!” she exclaimed.

During her wedding with Patrick Quinn (coincidentally the couple shares the same surname!) in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania, Nana Betty wore a dusty purple dress and holds a bouquet in her hand.

Christine said, as posted by Bored Panda, Nana Betty became the life of the wedding party.

“She had the entire wedding party laughing with her words of wisdom and funny comments throughout the day,” she shared. “Nana got on the party bus with the rest of the wedding party instead of ‘going home to rest’ but did not tell my mom (her daughter). She also danced the entire night away, including an adorable moment when she and my husband’s grandmother, Bellsie, danced together. It was amazing.”

Christine and Nana Betty remained close over the years even if they are not living together in the same roof.

“While she doesn’t live that close, we have continually made it a point to spend as much time together as possible,” she said. “She just has an amazing sense of humor and outlook on life that I strive to emulate every day. Everyone loves her.

Meanwhile, Sweet and Water Photography and Film, the one that covered the wedding, said there were many favorites in Christine’s wedding.

“So many favorite things about this wedding. First, Christine’s 89-year-old grandma “Nana Betty” was a bridesmaid. She was adorable. Second, Nana Betty could keep up with the non-stop shenanigans (read non-stop laughter). Third, this is the second wedding we’ve photographed within a year of someone marrying someone with the same last name. Fourth, we photographed Christine’s sister’s wedding a few years ago so we knew just what we were getting into. Congratulations Christine + Pat!” as written on its website.
