- Taiwanese reporter wanted to attend his games in PH, wasn’t able to come though
- Will give her a ticket to FIBA Asia if she wants to go along
- ‘RomYu’ love team gaining steam
MANILA, Philippines – A case of being hot and being cold, perhaps?
Terrence Romeo, the hotshot guard who won the heart of Taiwanese courtside reporter Jenny Yu with his killer crossover moves at the recently-concluded Jones Cup tournament in Taiwan, had this to say about his “Juliet” after being asked at the sidelines of his Gilas Pilipinas’ match-up with Talk N’ Text on Friday.
“Mag-ingat ka, diyan ka na lang (Take care, but stay there),” he told her, in response to Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) courtside reporter Erika Padilla who asked if he had anything to say about Yu who was reportedly planning to go to the Philippines to cover his games but was unable to this time.
However, when pressed further by Padilla who asked what he would do if Yu were to come along with him to the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship in China, a blushing Romeo said he would give her a ticket.
“We will count on that,” Padilla responded; to the cheers of the fans who were listening in on the interview.
Romeo and Yu became the hot topic of the Jones Cup tournament after the latter unabashedly asked him if she could become his “Juliet” in public on the sidelines of the Philippines’ heart-stopping come-from-behind win over New Zealand.
“Can I be your Juliet?” she asked the visibly surprised Romeo who could only laugh and blush at her straight-forwardness. It was later on discovered she had actually fallen for the Filipino since their very first interview in Taiwan.
The video showing their fateful encounter has since gone viral, with basketball fans dubbing their love team ‘RomYu.’
