- Miss Germany reveals in an interview she’s upset over the pageant result
- She claims none of the candidates voted for Miss Philippines
- Her controversial interview is bashed by Filipino commenters
The controversy surrounding Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach’s winning the Miss Universe 2015 crown in Las Vegas is far from over as one of the candidates openly admitted to being disappointed with the result marred by a mix-up of winners by host Steve Harvey.
Miss Germany Sarah-Lorraine Riek was quoted in an interview with Natalia Cruz; saying she’s upset over Wurtzbach winning the crown and expressed her support for 1st Runner-Up Miss Colombia Ariadna María Gutiérrez Arévalo.
Gutierrez was still relishing the victory with the crowd and supporters for about three minutes when Harvey announced the mistake. She was later stripped of the crown which was eventually handed to Wurztbach before the shocked audience.
But Miss Germany Sarah-Lorraine Riek believes Miss France is the rightful winner, and not Wurtzbach, since not one among the candidates supposedly voted for Miss Philippines.
“I really couldn’t believe it, I was so upset. For me Miss France as the real winner,” Riek told Cruz in a recorded interview uploaded on the Facebook page Missosology.
“I was very happy for Miss Colombia because she really deserved it. I’m really not happy with the result and so are the other girls, I’m sorry to say it,” added Miss Germany. “Because no one of us voted for Philippines. I’m so sorry to say it.”
The controversial reaction of Miss Germany has earned negative reactions among Filipino netizens; describing the German beauty as just ‘bitter’ and ‘insecure’ for not winning herself.
“That’s one of the reason why you didn’t even make it to top 15 coz of your attitude. I wonder how ppl from your country Germany, choose you to represent your whole nation. I feel sorry for you coz you don’t deserve your crown as Ms. Germany. And mostly you don’t deserve to be the Ms. Universe 2015,” wrote one disgruntled commenter.
”Well I’m sorry Miss Germany but Miss Colombia graciously accepted what happened. You may be entitled to be dissatisfied with the results but the fact that it was a mistake and the correct results were shown and watching the whole competition, you should know better why Miss Philippines deserved the title,” added another.
The clip has since been viewed more than 300K times and shared almost 7K time with more than 5K likes; making it viral.
Meanwhile, Wurtzbach described the surprising turn of event as “a very non-traditional, very 2015 crowning moment”, while Gutierrez said she’s happy for Miss Philippines and “everything happens for a reason”.
