MANILA, Philippines – Senator Pia Wurtzbach, anyone?

Meeting with members of the Filipino community in New York, the current Miss Universe bared some of her plans in life after her reign.

“I definitely see myself going back to acting,” GMA News quoted her as saying.

Before becoming a beauty pageant mainstay, Wurtzbach worked as professional model, actress and host.  Using the stage name Pia Romero at the age of 14, Wurtzbach appeared in TV programs such as K2BU, ASAP, Your Song, Bora, and Sa Piling Mo. She also had roles in the movies Kung Ako Na Lang Sana, All My Life, and All About Love.

Aside from a return to showbiz, Wurtzbach said she’s not ruling out a potential entry in the world of politics.

“Politics? Why not? I’m not closing my doors,” she said, before quickly adding she would have some serious studying to do if ever she decides to become a politician. “I think that I have much to learn, I have to get the right qualifications for it, of course.”

Wurtzbach also took the opportunity to address those who criticized her for saying she didn’t mind the return of US forces and bases in the country.

“That’s okay, I respect their opinion and I think that there’s a right time and a right place to talk about that,” she said.

Wurtzbach’s answer drew flak from politicians and leftist groups opposed to  the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA), with several inviting her to meet and talk with them once she returns to the country.
