- Former child star Jiro Manio is set to return to acting on television
- His last acting project was in 2010
- He will be appearing in an episode of Magpakailanman
Former child star Jiro Manio is set for a comeback to acting on television after his release from a rehabilitation and wellness center.
This was revealed by his TV and movie “mother” Ai Ai delas Alas who stood as a real-life guardian to the young actor who was found last year roaming around the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) visibly clueless and appearing to have been in an unusual state of mind which led to speculations if he had gone back to taking illegal drugs after a previous stint in rehab.
It was later found out that he had deep personal and family issues to be resolved.
During these difficult times, the Comedy Concert Queen, who once starred in the movie Ang Tanging Ina and its sequels playing Manio’s mother, took care of the actor and has, since then, been trying to help him get back on the right track.
Delas Alas announced on her official Instagram account that Manio is set to star in Magpakailanman; a drama program on GMA Network.
“Jiro signing for Magpakailanman. Yehey! Aarte na siya ulit! #BangonJiro TO GOD BE THE GLORY! PRAISE GOD,” she wrote.
Manio’s last acting project was with the same network in 2010; appearing in programs such as Maynila, Little Star, and Pilyang Kerubin.
He was also able to reprise his role as Shammy in the movie Ang Tanging Ina Mo (Last Na ‘To!) in that same year.
Soon after, he disappeared from the public eye until news about controversies surrounding his private life surfaced.
This return to acting is a huge leap for the young actor, who shot to fame playing the title role in the movie Magnifico. He won as Best Actor in various tilts such as the FAMAS, the Gawad Urian, the Film Academy of the Philippines, and the Metro Manila Film Festival.
