  • Relatives wish to bring home the remains of the victim, together with the minor children
  • Thus, Liezel Glimada, the victim’s sister, seeks help from the Philippine government

The death of the Filipina teacher in Maryland in the person of Gladys Tordil, 44, on Thursday, May 5, 2016 shocked the community especially as the suspected gunman is the estranged husband himself – a police officer – Eulalio Tordil, who is 62.

Apparently, the victim’s relative convened to decide on the possible actions to be done on the remains of Gladys Tordil and also her surviving minor children as disclosed in a report published by ABS-CBN News.

This was revealed by Liezel Glimada, the victim’s sister, in an interview by the News agency.

According to Glimada, “The whole family has been informed about the death of my sister, and everybody agreed to chip in and shoulder the needed expenses so we can bring the body of Gladys and her two surviving daughters back in the Philippine.”

Furthermore, extending a call towards the Philippine government she said, “All we ask for now is assistance from the authorities.”

Meanwhile, Glimada disclosed what she learned based on the conversation she had with the victim; saying: “We usually talk online when she has no work. I kept our conversations light to cheer her up”. She was referring to a family problem her sister was undergoing at the time which pushed her to seek for a protection order.

Glimada also recounted how she waited on Friday, May 7, 2016 for her sister to come online. Instead it was her niece who communicated with her to tell her of  what had befallen her sister.

Glimada admitted that one of her nieces even witnessed how their stepfather shot their mother.

Describing her reaction, she said: “I was really shocked because we thought the protection order was enough to keep them safe.”

She also admitted that her sister and the suspect had been together for a decade until the victim decided to part ways with him.

The suspect has already been arrested.
