Angel Locsin, Sam Milby, and Zanjoe Marudo are all set to appear in a new romantic comedy that will tackle the story of a gay relationship in a uniquely fresh way.
The Third Party follows the story of aspiring fashion designer Andi, played by Locsin, who falls in love and eventually breaks up with her first love, the cosmetic surgeon Max, who is played by Milby.
The two have managed to keep and maintain a friendship together. Things get a bit complicated, however, when Max inevitably comes out as gay and introduces Andi to a pediatrician named Christian, played by Marudo, who turns out to be his new boyfriend.
“You never forget your first love. Kaya [So] you’re hoping for a second chance. Pero [But] what are your chances pag ikaw na ngayon ang [if you are now] the third party?” the voice over of the official trailer asks.
The movie will tackle how the characters would be able to keep their friendship, despite their rather awkward first meeting, as they discover more about themselves.
Produced by Star Cinema, and directed by one of the country’s most promising young directors Jason Laxamana, The Third Party promises to give something new to the audience.
“Ang tapang ng Star Cinema sa story kasi modern take siya sa isang love story. Hindi siya typical love story na nakikita natin. [Star Cinema is brave because this is a modern take of a love story. It is not a typical love story that we see],” she said, as previously quoted by Cebu Daily News.
The movie is set to premier on October 12.
