Investigators believe that a 42-year-old father “intentionally drowned” his 4-year-old daughter in a church baptismal pool in Healdsburg, California,  as disclosed in Daily Mail.

Gerardo Mendoza Ordaz, apparently, wanted to fake the drowning incident by carrying his daughter, still soaking wet, to the police station.

He seem to have made it appear that he tried to save the life of his daughter by telling the police that he screamed for help to have his daughter brought to the hospital.

The police found Ordaz standing naked at the police station’s parking lot, clutching the young girl in his arms. Ordaz’s partially-clothed, nine-year-old son, was reportedly standing next to him.

Investigators believe that Ordaz drowned his daughter in the sanctuary pool at Healdsburg’s St. John the Baptist Catholic Church before carrying the soaking wet little girl to the local police station.

Her daughter was taken to hospital where she was pronounced d**d.

An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of d***h, but investigators believe she was ‘intentionally drowned’.

“We determined it was not an accident,” Healdsburg Police Department Chief Kevin Burke said,  after taking statements from the father and the son.

At the time of the incident, the police found out it was only Ordaz and his son who were in the church. It was also noted that Ordaz lives with his wife and their four children.

Police searched the family’s home and found no records of any domestic violence calls.

Meanwhile, Fr. Sean Rogers, the pastor of the church, said in a statement: ‘Sunday night there was tragedy in the church; a little girl lost her life.’ No mass was held at the church on Monday in the wake of Sunday’s tragedy.

Ordaz was a******d on suspicion of murder and booked into the Sonoma County Jail without bail.
