Young Filipino students brought home a bag of medals from an international competition that was held in Incheon, South Korea from November 23 to 26.
The winning Filipino students bagged three gold, seven silver, and 17 bronze medals in the Individual Category of the seventh World Math Team Championship.
The gold medallists in the Advanced Division are: Sedrick Scott Keh from Xavier School (Xavier); and Raphael Villaluz and Rafael Jose Santiago from Philippine Science High School (PSHS).
The silver medallists in the Advanced Division are: Lorenzo Jaime Y. Flores from PSHS, Alexander Go, Xuan Li, and Mark Christopher Uy from Xavier; while the silver awardees in the Intermediate Division were Jose Lorenzo P. Abad, Bert Joseph A. Tropicales, and Dominic Lawrence R. Bermudez from PSHS in the Intermediate Division.
The bronze winners in the Advanced Division were Joaquin Jose S. Lopez and Rodrigo Dexter A. Perando from PSHS, Edward Akiro Manuel, and Earle Anderson Ng from Makati Hope Christian High School (MHCS), and Matthew Johan Uy from Xavier. In the Intermediate Division, the bronze awardees were Shoshannah B. Tiu, Josh L. David, Jose Tristan Tan, Mallory Gillian Cua, and Haziel Vanessa C. Lim from MHCS; and Sinead Dylan P. Vallester, Frederick Ivan Michael T. Tan, and Wesley Gavin Go Palomar from PSHS. In the Junior Division, on the other hand, those who brought home a bronze medal each were Shaun Nicolo V. Salazar from PAREF Southridge School; and Jerome Samuel D. Tan, Dean Alistair R. Yu, Jasmine Ngo, and Kimberly Ang from MHCS.
Also, Xavier School Advanced Team and Philippine Science High School Intermediate Team were also awarded as among the top performers in their respective divisions.
Meanwhile, the Merit Awardees in the Advanced Division were Lance Ricco L. Teng, Margarita Patrice S. Penson, Pei-Hsuan Lee, and Arvin Christian S. Tan from MHCS, Mikhaela Marie V. Diaz of PSHS, and Kimmayong Ayahao from Xavier; in the Intermediate Division were Jarvy Larz San Juan from MHCS; and in the Junior Division were Kim Chan-E and Mikaela Alyn C. Motol.
The coaches of the Philippine teams were Jose Manresa Enrico Espanol IV of PSHS Advanced Team, Mario Danilo R. Lanura of the PSHS Intermediate Team, and Roberto Ongaria of the MHCS Team.
