MANILA, Philippines – Dayanara Torres returned to “ASAP” on Sunday with a bang as she danced and rekindled ties with her old co-hosts.
The 1993 Miss Universe, one of the noontime variety show’s original hosts along with Martin Nievera, Gary Valenciano, Pops Fernandez and Ariel Rivera, danced to such oldies like “Dancing Queen”, “Feels Like Dane”, “Hataw Na” as well as new pop hits “Side to Side” and “Suavemente”.
After her routine, Torres turned emotional; thanks to a video tribute.
“Maraming salamat po. Masaya ako dito kasi this is my second home, in ‘ASAP.’ I owe you guys so much. Everything started with me here. I learned everything here. I will forever be thankful. I will forever love you,” she said in reaction. “Mahal ko kayo. Lagi kayong nasa puso at isipan ko. I know ang tagal na. I should have been here before. But finally I am here. Sana ito na ang simula.”
After that, Torres reunited onstage with her “Hataw Na” fellow cast members Jolina Magdangal, Roselle Nava, Lindsay Custodio and Valenciano.
“Thank you so much, guys. You have never forgotten. Since I arrived, I know I took a very long time, 10 years and even more than that, but I arrived and the embrace and the love and the hugs were exactly the same. You haven’t forgotten,” she said.
Thanking her fans for the support, Torres vowed to come back to the country with her sons the next time around.
“Hopefully, I really wish that I can keep coming back and forth, if I can bring the boys, I can stay even longer, but definitely you will keep seeing me, I will not take this long to come back to this country that loves me so much,” she said.
