- Senator accused the administration of planning to jail him next
- He vowed not to stop until he exposes president’s real colors
- He warned Duterte he will have him jailed when he steps down as president
MANILA, Philippines – Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV had nothing but fighting words for President Rodrigo Duterte amid the arrest and detention of fellow lawmaker Sen. Leila de Lima.
Trillanes, a staunch critic of the administration like De Lima, accused Duterte of planning to have him arrested next and dared him to bring it on.
“Ako ang susunod? Plano nga nila akong unahin e, pero sige bring it on, do your worst,” he told Rappler.
[I’m next? I was supposed to be their first, but bring it on, do your worst.]
Saying De Lima’s arrest was meant to send a chilling message to the administration’s opponents, Trillanes vowed not to stop until he exposes Duterte’s real colors.
“I am motivated more than ever, mas ginaganahan ako na iexpose itong pagkatao ni President Duterte na siya ay isang mandarambong at mamamatay tao, hindi ako titigil hangga’t hindi namumulat ang sambayanang Pilipino, talagang pananagutin natin siya, hahabulin at hahabulin ko siya, hindi ko siya titigilan.”
[I am motivated more than ever to expose the true character of Duterte, that he is a plunderer and a murderer. I will not stop until the Filipino people realize this. We will hold him accountable, I will run after him, I will not quit.]
Trillanes also warned Duterte that he will not stop until the latter is jailed when he steps down from the presidency in 2022.
“Hahabulin ko ‘tong si Duterte, the moment mawala na siya sa poder ng kapangyarihan, ipapakulong kita, hahabulin kita,” he said.
[I will go after Duterte, I will go after and have him jailed the moment he steps down from power.]
