MANILA, Philippines – It was a fruit no one wants to see fall from a tree.
Locals in a barangay in Lubao, Pampanga were treated to a disturbing sight after the decomposing body of a man was discovered hanging from a mango tree on Friday morning.
The body of the man — who was later identified as 33-year-old Joel Manacmul — was spotted by a farmer who was going to water his fields.
“Nakita nung isang magpapapatubig sa palayan na bigla na may tao [He was seen by someone who was watering his ricefield],” investigator SPO1 Nelson Visario told ABS-CBN.
Donna, Manacmul’s live-in partner, said she threw him out of their house after her daughter accused him of raping her.
“Alam ko po ‘yun ‘yung suot niyang shorts at damit nung umalis siya… Pinaalis ko siya kasi ni-rape niya anak ko nagsumbong sa tita niya mula pa grade 4 ngayon grade 6 na,” she said.
[I knew it was him because of the shorts and clothes he was wearing when he left. I threw him out because my daughter told her aunt he had been raping her since she was Grade 4 up until now that she’s Grade 6.]
Police are currently investigating whether Manacmul took his own life or was killed.
