President Rodrigo Duterte said he could never be misinformed and knows what he was doing when he axed Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Ismael Sueño.

“I could never be misinformed. Ka-abugado ko, ma-misinform ako? [Me, a lawyer, misinformed?] And when I make a move, when I fire you diyan mismo [right there], alam ko ang ginagawa ko [I know what I’m doing], Duterte told reporters.

Sueño was dismissed by the President during a Cabinet meeting last Monday, April 3, over corruption allegations.

At a press conference on Thursday, April 6, after bidding goodbye to DILG employees, Sueño, who was accused of corruption by three DILG undersecretaries, said he believes President Duterte was misinformed and acted and decided based on what he has read in a confidential memorandum from the Mayor Rodrigo Roa Duterte-National Executive Coordinating Committee.

Meanwhile, GMA reported that Senator Tito Sotto revealed that the President had been considering to terminate the DILG secretary since last month.

The senator said the decision to fire Sueño may have been delayed because the President validated the reports that reached him.
