- MMDA chairman Danilo Lim vowed to eradicate corruption in the agency
- Lim believes that corruption in the MMDA is the root cause of all the problems in the streets
- He said the proliferation of ambulant vendors, colorum vehicles and illegally-parked vehicles were just symptoms of the real problem
Newly appointed Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Danilo Lim hit the ground running as he immediately ordered immediate audit of the agency’s equipment, personnel and vehicles on the day he formally assumed office.
As mentioned in an Inquirer story dated May 24, 2017, the newly appointed MMDA chair will focus on eradicating corruption in the agency, which he believes is the root cause of all the problems in the streets – from ambulant vendors to illegally-parked vehicles.
Lim said the proliferation of vendors, “colorum” vehicles, and illegally-parked vehicles resulting in the clogging of the streets were just symptoms of the real problem.
“Let’s be honest to ourselves and admit that we, too, have a problem. We hear that there are MMDA personnel who are doing unscrupulous activities; we will have to address that,” he told reporters.
He said President Rodrigo Duterte’s marching order to him is to eradicate corruption in the agency.
