The June 5 opening of school classes for public schools in Mindanao will push through despite the declaration of Martial Law.
As reported by Unang Balita this Friday, the Department of Education said that all public elementary and high schools in the region must be kept and maintained as “zones of peace and neutrality”.
DepEd further announced that public schools would not be used as evacuation centers.
Meanwhile in the terror-stricken city of Marawi, Mindanao State University and the provincial capitol will be used as evacuation centers for the time being.
The opening of classes in MSU will not be a problem despite being used as an evacuation center for refugees as the start of their first semester for the school year 2017-2018 will be in August.
