After receiving mixed reactions from social media, Jollibee has apologized over its mascot’s “Versace on the Floor” dance performance that went viral on Facebook recently.

In a statement on its Facebook page, Jollibee also clarified that the dance number happened during an internal store event in one of their branches, and not at a kid’s party as earlier reported.

“Jollibee would like to apologize to the public, especially to our young fans, who may have been disappointed or offended with the said dance video of our mascot that was uploaded on social media,” the statement read.

“We would like to clarify that the performance is a deviation from the standard mascot and party guidelines — be it for Jollibee Kids Party or internal events,” it added.

The viral video of the gyrating mascot to the tune of Bruno Mars’ “Versace on the Floor”  has earned varied reactions from netizens; with some saying the performance may have been a bit inappropriate for young kids.

In the same statement, the country’s biggest fastfood management assures the public that it will take the necessary measures to ensure that all such performances in the future “will consistently reflect the values and spirit of the family, friendship and wholesome fun that Jollibee has always been known for”.
