Netizens are warned from falling prey to fake advertisements circulating in social media.
On its official Facebook page, Philippine Airlines on Monday said it’s not giving away free tickets for its anniversary.
The fake advertisement has been circulating on Facebook recently; saying that PAL will give away free tickets in line with its anniversary.
“Get 2 of 268 FREE Philippines Airline Tickets on their 28th Anniversary!”, the fake advertisement read.
“They could win the free tickets if they answer a quick survey and share the post on their Facebook walls,” PAL said in a statement.
Some Facebook users have typed “Thank you PAL for the free tickets” upon sharing the ad.
The company warned that the said scam may compromise users’ profiles.
The carrier noted that this false advertising through the misuse of Facebook will not be tolerated.
“We have reported the false Facebook ad to the proper authorities for appropriate action. The flag carrier does not condone deceptive acts that deliberately mislead consumers,” PAL said.
Meanwhile, PAL reminded the public that its advertisements and promotional materials are only released via its official Facebook page, and through its website, www.philippineairlines.com.
The airline also uses traditional platforms such as print, radio, television, it added.
PAL, which was founded in 1941, is currently on its 76th year.
