MANILA, Philippines  –  After a series of blunders, Presidential Communications Operation Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar has ordered the abolition of Strategic Communications Office (SCO), purportedly as part of an ‘ongoing reforms’ within the department.

The Office Order No. 26 was signed by Andanar on Tuesday, May 30 and ordered the scrapping of the SCO effective immediately ‘in the interest of service’.

“The main reasons are streamline and to adjust our new comprehensive communications strategy in promoting the policies of the different executive departments,” said Andanar in a statement.

The 13 personnel of SCO have been transferred to the Office of the Secretary-Media while 7 were re-assigned to the Office of Communications Assistant Secretary Kissinger Reyes.

Andanar also denied firing 40 staff after controversies hounded the PCOO the past few days over fake photos and stories published on the Philippine News Agency, which is directly under Andanar.

“All other personnel under the Strategic Communications whose name is not included is deemed to have resigned and/or the contract of service expired,” the order further read.

Andanar have been silent following the controversies and is thought to have deliberately avoided the media who are seeking explanation about the latest brouhaha in his department.

The PCOO has since apologized to the public and owned to its mistakes in sharing the fake photo and the story on PNA.
