Laguna  –  Philippine National Police Region 4 Director Mao Aplasca has relieved the San Pedro City police chief and a jailer after six detainees escaped the station’s detention cell by sawing its bars.

Chief Supt. Harold Depositar (San Pedro police chief) and Police Officer 2 Jobencio Piodo (duty jail officer) were sacked this Wednesday.

They were relieved of their duties after failing to meet PNP Chief Director General Ronald Dela Rosa’s 24-hour ultimatum for the capture of the six fugitives who escaped early Tuesday morning around 4:30am.

Supt. Zeric Soriano was appointed to take his place.

As of Wednesday morning, only one of the fugitives, Jordan Ybañez Mahusay, was found after police caught up with him in Barangay Vicente, San Pedro City.

The fugitives were identified as:

  • Benjo Lopena
  • Mark Joseph Alviar
  • Jordan Ybañez Mahusay — *recaptured
  • Ed Niño Hernandez
  • Rey Rodrigo Erenia
  • Arvin Basilan

Five are still at large: Mark Joseph Alviar, Benjo Lopena, Ed Niño Hernandez and Arvin Basilan, all facing drug-related cases, and Rey Rodrigo Erenia, who is facing a complaint for illegal possession of deadly weapon.

A manhunt operation is ongoing to track and capture the other fugitives.
