While it was not a flawless performance, ‘The Voice Teens Philippines’ coaches gushed over this 13-year-old who caught their audition in the May 20 blind auditions of the reality singing show.
Johann Ramirez Sebastian, 13 years old, swoons the coaches with his rendition of the 1950s hit “Fly Me to the Moon.” Lea Salonga and Sarah Geronimo immediately turned their chairs for this future heartthrob. Upon turning her chair, Salonga really liked the vibe and grooved to the jazzy cover of the young lad from Cabanatuan City.
Lea Salonga recognized the young boy’s taste in music. She admitted it’s not a perfect vocal but she liked how passionate Sebastian was with this kind of music. She said: “Parang maliit kang matanda. Mayroon ka nung puso para sa ganitong klaseng kanta. [You’re like an old soul. You have the heart for this kind of music.] I know what to do with a singer like you.”
Sarah Geronimo, however, saw Sebastian’s love for music and performing. “You captured my attention and my heart as you filled it with gladness…”
Johann told the coaches that his brother is his inspiration. At a young age, the two are part of a music team where Johann plays the drums and his brother plays the piano. At the end of the day, he chose the coach that “would be able to improve his singing voice” – so he picked Coach Sarah.
