Authorities seized three kilos of methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu, from Carmin Maluddin, 36, and her live-in partner Sakur Alijam, 26, of Vallerosa Subdivision in Sinunuc town, Zamboanga City.
As per a Sun Star story, the couple were nabbed following the arrest of 29-year-old Almujir Sabtal during a buy-bust operation around 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, in a hotel in the city. The suspect, who yielded shabu worth P300, pointed to the couple as his source of the illegal drugs.
A raid on the couple’s residence was conducted by the Station Drug Enforcement Team of Tetuan Police Station 6 around 9:30 a.m. of the same day. The cops seized three kilos of shabu with an estimated street value of P60 million from the suspects.
Maluddin, who is set to return to her work in the Middle East as an administrative assistant on July 8, and Alijam, a former overseas Filipino worker, denied owning the three kilos of shabu found inside their house.
The couple claimed Sabtal, who was staying at their residence because he had nowhere else to stay, owns the illegal substance.
