Actress Julia Barretto’s father, actor Dennis Padilla, recalled meeting daughter’s alleged boyfriend Joshua Garcia.
In an article written by Melba Llanera of PEP, it was disclosed that Garcia was introduced to Padilla during the Father’s Day celebration.
“Okay naman. Mabait saka mahiyain. Actually, di ko alam kung nahihiya siya o natatakot siya sa akin. Anyway, very respectful na bata. Gusto ko siya, very low key,” he shared.
[Our first meeting was okay. He’s kind and shy. Actually, I don’t know if he’s shy or if he was afraid of me. Anyway, he’s very respectful. I like him, very low key.]
Padilla said he asked Garcia if he is courting his daughter but the latter just looked at Julia. He asked Barretto but she did not say a word.
“Tinanong ko lang si Joshua, sabi ko, ‘Pare, nanliligaw ka ba dito?’ Hindi siya nakasagot. Tumingin lang siya kay Julia tapos si Julia tumingin sa akin. Tapos, si Julia tinanong ko, ‘Nanliligaw ba sa iyo ito?’ Di rin sumagot, e. Siguro nga nanliligaw,” he stated.
[I asked Joshua, “Are you courting her?” He did not answer; he just stare at her, and then he looked at me. Then I asked Julia, “Is he courting you?” She did not respond. Maybe he is courting her.]
Padilla, on the other hand, said he is happy seeing all the efforts of Garcia. He added that he is also glad because he sees how happy Barretto is.
“Okay naman, basta mamahalin mo lang ang anak ko, wala naman tayong problema…. Twenty years old na naman si Julia. She’s a very intelligent woman and I know alam niya kung ano ang mga dapat at di dapat gawin,” he further expressed.
[For me, it’s okay for as long as you will love my daughter, we won’t have any problem…. Also, Julia is 20 years old already. She’s a very intelligent woman and I know that she knows what she should do and what she must not.]
Meanwhile, Garcia said he’s happy; adding it’s hard to get a father’s trust, but he’s happy to have a new friend now. “He is like a father to me,” he said.
