A 31-year-old woman from Texas ended up in a cell after she stole a police officer’s car while she was being arrested.
According to KBTX, shots were fired Friday night during a pursuit in Normangee involving a Driving While Intoxicate (DWI) suspect accused of stealing a state trooper’s patrol vehicle..
Bridget Cast was arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol Friday night.
A police officer then handcuffed her and placed her in front of the vehicle.
“He was actually preparing to take her to get her blood drawn,” Madison County Sheriff’s Deputy Troy Poe said.
When he got out of the car, the suspect managed to get rid of his fetters and place herself in the driver’s seat and drove away.
The police officer and a colleague pursued the woman for nearly 5 km. Several shots were fired at the vehicle.
Fortunately, no one got hurt.
She’s now facing a felony charge of evading arrest on top of the DWI charge.
According to The Eagle, she is being held at the Madison County Jail, but her bail amount was not available Saturday.
