- 14-year-old girl sought NBI help against lewd Facebook group
- She said group used her picture as its cover photo without consent
- Victim’s mother bent on filing charges, urged administrators to surrender
MANILA, Philippines – Amid public outrage over their activities, another victim of the so-called Pastor Hokage Facebook groups has sought the help of authorities after learning that her picture was being used without her consent.
The complainant, 14-year-old girl, told the National Bureau of Investigation Cybercrime Division that a group calling itself the Bible Study of Pastor Hokage used a compromising picture of her as their cover photo without her knowledge and consent.
She told GMA News she received indecent proposals and lewd messages in her social media accounts as a result of the unauthorized use of her picture.
Vowing to press charges against the administrators, the girl’s mother also urged the administrators of the group and those everyone else responsible to give themselves up.
This is the third time the NBI has received a complaint regarding these groups. Earlier, it said it was investigating four suspects in relation to the complaints.
“May mga karapatan itong mga babae na ito, na ang kanilang privacy at ang mga intimate moments ay hindi natin basta-basta ipo-post sa Internet or i-share sa public,” Atty. Francis Senora of the Cybercrime Division said.
[These women have rights, that their privacy and intimate moments cannot be posted on the Internet or shared in public just like that.]
Cybercrime Division chief Atty. Martini Cruz said victims can sue the ringleaders for breaking the country’s child abuse and voyeurism laws.
“Well, minors plus child pornography, mabigat ang penalty diyan, plus ngayon kung babae naman nakahubad without their consent, puwede silang magreklamo for anti-photo and video voyeurism na violation,” he said.
[Well, minors plus child pornography, the penalties are heavy, plus if there are women whose photos or videos of them naked were without their consent, they can complain for anti-photo and video voyeurism violations.]
