- Wife of slain person of interest in Bulacan massacre scored killers for gunning down husband
- She said her husband is innocent, has urged police to track down the perpetrators
- She also said she didn’t know if brother, the main suspect, also involved amid flip-flopping
MANILA, Philippines – The wife of one of the persons of interest in the Bulacan massacre case is crying for justice over his killing.
Jonna Sorima, wife of Roosebelt Sorima alias Ponga, said her husband was innocent and wants justice for his death.
“Gusto ko rin po bigyan ng hustisya ang pagkamatay ng asawa ko kasi wala po siyang kasalanan. Tumingin naman po kayo sa mga tao. Nadadamay lang. Ang nasangkot walang kasalanan, ang dami nang nadamay,” she told GMA News.
[I also want justice for the death of my husband because he did nothing wrong. Think also about the innocent people who were dragged into this. Those who are paying for the crime are the innocent ones, and many have already been affected.]
Sorima was gunned down in front of his home by motorcycle-riding gunmen in front of his children days after he was identified as a person of interest in the massacre of the Carlos family.
Construction worker Carmelino Ibañes, who is also Jonna’s brother, earlier confessed to the crime but has since recanted.
Commenting on her sibling’s involvement, the bereaved widow said she could not speak for him but was only sure that her late husband had no part in the crime.
“Kahit kapatid ko po ‘yun, hindi ko po hawak ang pag-iisip ng kapatid ko,” she said. “Ang sigurado lang ako walang kasalanan ang asawa ko.”
[Even if he is my brother, I have no control over his thinking. The only thing I’m sure of is that my husband is innocent.]
