The Martial Law Special Action Group (ML-SAG), armed with 42 search warrants issued by a Regional Trial Court in Gingoog City, raided a compound owned by Lawyer Elly Pamatong in Cagayan de Oro (CdeO) early Thursday morning, August 31.
According to Sun Star, the raiding team composed of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, Task Force Oro and other military units, recovered several weapons at the compound which houses the headquarters of the United States Freedom Fighters of the East (USAFFE) founded by Pamatong and more than 40 living quarters of his followers.
Two hand grenades, a caliber .45 pistol, several USAFFE uniforms, a Philippine flag and a United States flag were confiscated by the ML-SAG. Pamatong and his USSAFE members evaded arrest.
Charges of illegal possession of firearms and illegal possession of explosives will be filed against the controversial lawyer, who ran for president of the country two times, in 2004 and in 2010, but lost.
