- De Leon and her mother Eva Rodriguez got reunited after 26 years
- The two met in California, USA, last August 19
Actress Lotlot de Leon got bashed by some fans of her adoptive mother Nora Aunor after she posted a photo of her with her biological mother.
On Instagram, she posted a photo of her with Eva Rodriguez. They got reunited last August 19, after almost three decades.
“Thank you, Mama Eva,” the actress expressed.
“But there’s a story behind everything. How a picture got on a wall. How a scar got on your face. Sometimes the stories are simple, and sometimes they are hard and heartbreaking. But behind all your stories is always your mother’s story, because hers is where yours begin,” she added; quoting well-known author Mitch Albom.
De Leon is the adopted daughter of Superstar Nora Aunor and her ex-husband Christopher de Leon.
Fans of Aunor reacted on De Leon’s post; telling her that she should forgive the Superstar’s shortcomings as she was the one who was with her since Rodriguez left her.
Tulad po ng recent IG post ko, ‘Sometimes, you just have to bow your head, say a prayer and weather the storm. At naniniwala po ako, at the end of the day, the truth will always set us all free.”
[I have so many things to say but I know that whatever I say will not matter as they will only believe what they want to believe. I have nothing to explain to anyone. I know I cannot please everybody. For as long as I can, I will try to unterstand and love the ones who deserve to be understood and loved. I cannot do anything about the people who can neither understand nor love me, that’s their right and I will not take away that right from them. I will not speak regarding this issue; I know that like a typhoon, this, too, shall pass. Like what was stated in my recent IG post, ‘Sometimes, you just have to bow your head, say a prayer and weather the storm.’ And I believe, at the end of the day, the truth will always set us all free.]
Meanwhile, there were also people who expressed happiness over the two’s mini-reunion, including De Leon’s stepmother Sandy Andolong.
“Happy for you @mslotlotdeleon,” she wrote.
After 26 years
It’s been 26 years since De Leon and Rodriquez last saw each other. Such was only their second meeting. De Leon first saw her mom in San Diego, California in 1991.
“We had a show, kasama ko si Janine, baby pa si Janine,” the actress shared. [We had a show, I was with Janine who was still a baby then.]
The two got reunited in California, USA, last Saturday, August 19, after De Leon accompanied her daughter Janine who went abroad to record the theme song of her upcoming TV project, Sunshine In. Also with them were De Leon’s only son Diego Gutierrez and a talent manager from GMA-7.
“I’m happy to see her,” De Leon expressed. “Happy that she met the kids, ’cause I want the kids to know also their roots…. I wanted her to meet her grandchildren.”
