Truly an epic fail!
A 23-year-old man from Anjo, Aichi Prefecture, was arrested in Shizuoka Prefecture early Monday morning after trying to steal a police car that had police officers inside it.
Ushio Sato, a company employee, approached the vehicle — which was an unlocked unmarked police car — at a parking lot in Numazu, at around 12:30 a.m. Monday.
Feeling secure that no one will see him, Sato hurriedly opened the car but was shocked to see some police officers inside it when he opened the door.
Japanese media reports said the luckless Sato did not notice there were officers inside the unlocked vehicle, which was at a local parking lot.
Sato reportedly tried to get out and run away. But soon, he was caught.
The authorities said the vehicle that was about to be stolen was a car used for disguise by police.
However, it was not explained whether the officers were wearing their uniform when the incident occurred.
