MANILA, Philippines  –  Senator Antonio Trillanes will file libel charges against blogger Mocha Uson, journalist Erwin Tulfo and another individual for supposedly peddling lies about his ‘nonexistent’ offshore accounts.

During a press conference on Monday, September 11, Trillanes said the three were responsible for sharing information on his alleged 12 offshore bank accounts over the weekend after President Rodrigo Duterte threatened to expose the same information which allegedly proved his hidden wealth.

“Within the next few days pa-file-an ko ng kaso itong si Mr. Erwin Tulfo, si Ms. Mocha Uson, at itong si Mr. Ben Tesiorna. Kakasuhan sila ng libel. Hindi na puwede ‘yung fake news,” said Trillanes.

[Within the next few days, I will file cases against Mr. Erwin Tulfo, Ms. Mocha Uson and this Ben Tesiorna. I will sue them for libel. We can’t allow fake news anymore.]

Uson is currently the Assistant Secretary of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) and, like Erwin Tulfo, a staunch supporter of Duterte. Tesiorna is said to be identified with the pro-Duterte page Davao Breaking News.

Trillanes likewise challenged Duterte to sign a waiver to open his own bank accounts; calling the President’s latest allegation against him the ‘biggest blunder’. The senator himself signed a bank waiver on Monday; paving the way for the possible scrutiny of his accounts.

“This is the biggest blunder na ginawa nito ni Duterte [made by Duterte],” said Trillanes. “I will destroy your fabricated information, but with the truth.”
