- He thanked woman for the blessings, said her FB post made it all possible
- Woman also happy for his good fortune
MANILA, Philippines – Remember Rolando Sarusad, the elderly driver who let his lady passenger take the wheel of his taxi?
He’s now the proud owner of an e-jeep, and a sari-sari store to boot.
The 67-year-old, whose story became a hit on social media after his passenger Cristina Tan Villanueva shared it, recently received the two gifts courtesy of ABS-CBN program Mission Possible.
The e-jeep came complete with a franchise, and is expected to help Sarusad earn a bigger income.
In an interview with DZMM, Sarusad thanked Villanueva for the good fortune which came his way, saying he never expected their simple though unorthodox encounter to turn out like this.
“Hindi ko inaasahan ito. Parang milagro ang tingin ko,” he said. “Dahil kay Cristina kaya nagpapasalamat ako sa kanya ng maraming maraming dahil siya ang ugat nitong lahat ng nangyari sa akin.”
[I wasn’t expecting this. I see this as probably a miracle. I am very, very thankful to Cristina because what she did was the cause of all these good things that happened to me.]
For her part, Villanueva said she’s just happy that her posting of their encounter could help him out.
“Sobrang saya. Nakikita ko si tatay na talagang nagulat siya sa lahat ng mga gift niya. Parang early Christmas gifts, and for sure, first time niyang nakatanggap ng ganyan sa buong buhay niya,” she said.
[I am so happy. I saw him really surprised with all the gifts. It’s like early Christmas gifts, and for sure, that would be the first time he’s received something like that in his whole life.]
