As of Thursday, October 5, the P21 increase in the salaries of minimum wage earners have been put to effect.
Non-agricultural workers are now to receive a minimum of P512 per day.
While included in the P475 per day are:
- Workers in the agricultural sector
- Workers in retail/service with employees not lower than 15
- Workers in manufacturing with regular employees not lower than 10
The minimum wage hike was approved based on recommendations and agreement of workers, employers, and the government.
Others are happy about the news, saying P21 a day could greatly help in daily living like travel expenses and food.
However, others think it is still not enough, wanting more.
