Now that President Rodrigo Duterte have tasked the the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) to lead the war on drugs, the agency will set up offices at the Bureau of Customs (BOC) and the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor.)
PDEA Public Information Office Chief Derrick Carreon said in an interview on radio dzBB that Director General Aaron Aquino met with BuCor officials on Thursday to discuss plans for a PDEA office inside the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City.
He added that the offices including those at BOC may be set up “hopefully within the coming months, until early November.”
Carreon also said that the PDEA will hold office at the BOC and BuCor because these areas are “critical” areas for drug activity.
“Magkakaroon nga po ng dedicated office ang PDEA dito po sa mga tanggapan ng mga ahensyang ito dahil kritikal, dito nga po napapaulat na naglilipana ang illegal drug activities, whether yung nagmamando or nagpapalusot through smuggling, nariyan po lahat,” he said. [The PDEA will be having dedicated offices at these critical agencies because places like these are where illegal drugs or related activities like smuggling are abundant.]
High-value targets are PDEA’s priority in its anti-drug campaign and said they will do their best for less bloody operations.
