After ceasing to appear on the Kapuso show ‘Wowowin’ due to drug-related controversies, “Super Tekla” has been given another shot at showbiz after signing an exclusive contract with GMA-7.
“Matagal kong hinintay ito. Sobrang patience, talagang nagtiyaga ako,” the comedian revealed in an interview with GMA, as per a news story by PEP. [I waited for this for a long time. A lot of patience, I really became patient.]
The contract signing was held at the GMA Network head office on October 25. The comedian expressed how thankful and how happy he was that finally he can be called an ‘official’ and ‘legit’ Kapuso.
GMA Artist Center Senior Talent Manager, Daryl Zamora, and co-manager Rose Conde were also present during the contract signing.
The comedian also expressed his gratitude to GMA-7’s big bosses like GMA Chairman and CEO Atty. Felipe Gozon, President and COO Gilberto Duavit, Executive Vice President and CFO Felipe S. Yalong, SVP for Alternative Productions Gigi Santiago-Lara, and GMA SVP for Entertainment Lilybeth Rasonable.
Super Tekla vowed to focus on his career, remain positive, work hard, and avoid wasting the second chance given to him by the network.
“Pinapangako ko na gagawin ko ang aking best sa tiwalang binigay sa akin ng GMA,” Super Tekla promised. [I promise to do my best for the trust that GMA gave me.]
Meanwhile, Super Tekla voluntarily submitted himself to a drug test prior to contract signing to prove he is ‘free of substance’ and is ‘fit to work’.
“Talagang voluntary akong nagpa-drug test, to clear. Talagang sobrang certified po, nag-negative na po yung result ko ng drugs and I’m so glad,” he said. [I really voluntarily submitted myself to a drug test, to clear things up. It’s really certified, the result was already negative from drugs and I’m so glad.]
The comedian revealed he wanted to do this to clear speculations about issues linking him to illegal drug use and also to be able to move forward to achieve his goals.
“This is it, hindi totoo ‘yon. Kaya sabi ko nga, ayoko na ngang magsalita, e. Pero to prove, to clear, para masara na yung haka-haka, wala na po akong drugs sa katawan. Fit to work,” the former ‘Wowowin’ host added.
[This is it, it was not true. That’s why I said, I don’t want to speak up anymore. But to prove, to clear, to close the issue, I no longer have drugs in my body. Fit to work.]
Super Tekla was a co-host of the Kapuso afternoon variety show ‘Wowowin’ from September 2016 to June 2017. He made appearances in Kapuso shows such as ‘Sunday PinaSaya’, ‘Celebrity Bluff’, and ‘Sarap Diva’ after leaving thereafter.
The comedian now plays ‘Lady Yvonne’, sidekick of Iris (played by Solenn Heussaff), in the Kapuso prime-time series “Alyas Robin Hood”.
He looks forward to working with Kapuso comedians such as Vic Sotto and Boobsie Wonderland, and dreams to be part of the long-running gag show Bubble Gang.
His message to everyone: “Be patient, yun lang, maging mapagkumbaba. Kahit anong gawin mo, alam naman ng Diyos kung saan ka ilalagay.” [Be patient, that’s it, be humble. Whatever you do, God knows where to put you.]
