In a very rare circumstance, “Star for all seasons” Vilma Santos shared about past conflict between her and celebrity friend Roderick Paulate, which was because of another showbiz friend Maricel Soriano.
On Thursday, after almost two years, Vilma and Roderick reunited on the ABS-CBN morning show ‘Magandang Buhay’. In their long-term friendship, the two admitted there came a point where they also had a conflict.
They shared that it even came to a point where they stopped talking to each other for more than a year, and this was involving their friend, actress Maricel Soriano.
“There was a fair or performance na parang mas kinampihan niya si Maria. Kinonfront ko siya. ‘Sino ba talaga ang gusto mo? Sino ba talaga, Dick?'” Vilma narrated in Magandang Buhay.
[There was a fair or performance where he seemed to have chosen Maria (Maricel Soriano) over me. I confronted him. ‘Who do you really like? Who, Dick (Roderick)?]
Roderick revealed that he was the first one to reach out and make a way for them to reconcile. “Hindi ito magre-reach out sa akin, ang tapang nito…. Alam mo ba nagtiis ako ng tatlong oras na ipasok sa karton. Kasi birthday niya sa Araneta Coliseum, ikinulong ako (sa karton) kasi kailangan di makita ni Vilma. Dinala ‘yung box sa Araneta. Tinanong niya, ‘Ano ito?’ Tapos binuksan, ako na ang lumabas,” Roderick narrated.
[She will never reach out to me, this is tough…. Did you know that I endured three hours inside a box? Because it was her birthday in Araneta Coliseum, I was hidden in a box because Vilma should not see me. The box was brought to Araneta. She asked, ‘What’s this? And then the box was opened, I came out.]
The actor did this on national TV. He also dedicated the song ‘Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love For You’ to Vilma before giving her a hug. But it did not stop there as he disclosed that after doing that, he came to the actress’ dressing room to personally apologize to her.
Vilma, on the other hand expressed that their friendship is one which is not defined by the amount of time they spend with each other.
For Vilma’s nearing birthday, Roderick gave her a handkerchief and a bracelet (which symbolizes the renewal of their friendship).
