Duterte heading for Vietnam for APEC Summit

President Duterte will leave on the afternoon of November 8 with his small delegation to Vietnam to attend the APEC Summit.

The delegation of the Philippine government will leave via a chartered flight to Hanoi, Vietnam.

The delegates include DFA Sec. Alan Peter Cayetano, Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque and Presidential Communications Sec. Martin Andanar.

2017 APEC Summit will be held from Nov. 8-10 in Da Nang, Vietnam where the first meeting of President Duterte and US Pres. Donald Trump is expected.

A day before Duterte meets Trump at the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), he made a statement that the Philippines is still ‘best of friends’ with America.

“We remain to be the best of friends with America,” he said in a speech at the Philippine Marine Corps in Taguig City.

“Most of you… or some of you went schooling in America and I do not blame you if your sentiments are really remained with the power who helped us for the longest time,” he added.

Besides President Trump, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin will attend the APEC Summit.

President Duterte is expected to have bilateral talks with Russian President Putin, Chinese President Xi and Vietnam President Tran Dai Quang.
