It is a challenge for lawyers to address the issue of adherence to the rule of law, granting of justice and respect for human rights on the issue against the war on drugs by the Duterte administration.
So Atty. Adiel Dan Fajardo, the national president of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines, reminded fellow lawmakers to always keep in mind in fulfilling their duty the principles that is in embodied in their code of professional responsibility.
According to Atty. Fajardo, he called for a lawyers’ summit to discuss the need for war victims on drugs to have lawyers to take care and to fight for their rights.
Human Rights Comm. Roberto Cadiz agreed that the IBP’s plan will be a great help to give justice to anti-drug campaign victims.
Cadiz said it is crucial to uphold the rule of law not just for alleged extra-judicial killings but also the a*****s on institutions, such as the Supreme Court, the Office of the Ombudsman and the CHR.
