It’s official: Roque dropped from House’s roll of lawmakers

MANILA, Philippines  –  Former Kabayan Partylist representative and now Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque has been officially removed from the list of lawmakers in the 17th Congress.

Majority Leader Rodolfo Fariñas made the official announcement at the House plenary session during a roll call on Wednesday, November 30.

“The House is in receipt of a copy of the Oath of Office of Herminio ‘Harry’ L. Roque as presidential spokesperson, Office of the President,” Fariñas announced at the session.

“Pursuant there, Mr. Speaker, I move that Herminio ‘Harry’ L. Roque be dropped from the roll of members effective November 6, 2017,” he sadi.

Roque was appointed Malacañang spokesperson by President Rodrigo Duterte in October, replacing Ernesto Abella.

Before his appointment to the Palace, Roque served as partylist one of the representatives of Kabayan, the other being Ron Salo.

Just last week, Duterte also appointed  Roque, who earned his reputation as a feisty human rights lawyer, as presidential adviser on human rights.
