- Canadian prime minister visited women’s health center in Tondo
- He then dropped by Jollibee’s North Harbour branch before going to the ASEAN summit venue
- It was his second visit to PH’s largest fast-food chain
MANILA, Philippines – Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has won the hearts of Filipinos yet again after he dropped at a women’s health center and Jollibee restaurant in Tondo, Manila.
Hours after landing at Clark International Airport in Pampanga, Trudeau visited the health center being run by non-government organization Likhaan where he was pictured holding a baby and talking with several workers and patients.
Likhaan is a Canadian-funded NGO which caters to women’s health and social services.
After the visit, Trudeau and his entourage then made their way to the Jollibee branch in North Harbor and stayed there a while.
During his stopover, the Canadian leader interacted with the store’s workers and customers and gamely posed for photos.
Pictures of his unannounced visit was later shared by the restaurant on its social media account.
“Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau delighted the customers and store team of Jollibee’s North Harbour Branch when he made a jolly stopover Sunday afternoon on his first day in Manila,” the fast-food chain said.
Jose Miñana, Jollibee Foods Corp Group President, expressed appreciation for Trudeau’s gesture even as he clarified that it was Canadian officials who requested for the visit to take place.
“We’re very humbled by him taking time from his obviously busy schedule to give us a slice of his time,” he said.
One of the youngest world leader of today, Trudeau also charmed Filipinos back in 2015 for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Manila.
Last year, he visited Canada’s first Jollibee store in Winnipeg as part of a cross-country tour.
“I’d like to also think that he enjoys the food,” Miñana said.
