Binibining Pilipinas Universe Rachel Peters paraded in her modern “Sarimanok-inspired” national costume during the preliminaries of the 66th Miss Universe competition in Las Vegas Sunday morning (Manila time).

Peters was shining bright as a golden Sarimanok; a legendary bird of the Maranao people from Mindanao which symbolizes “good fortune.”

The “most beautiful Filipina” in 2017 slayed the runway clad in a gold one-piece swimsuit, a skirt which transfigures as wings, knee-high golden gladiator shoes and she finished her over-all look with a lavish headpiece.

Her costume was designed by Filipino fashion designer Val Taguba, while her shoes was created by renowned shoemaker Jojo Bragais.

Peters shared a photo of herself in her Instagram account; captioned: “A modern twist of the legendary Sarimanok… a symbol of good fortune for the Maranao people”
