In case you want have been wanting a piece of history from Jose Rizal, your lucky day might just come in a matter of weeks.

Jose Rizal’s letters to his “most beloved sister” dated back to 1891-1896 which are considerably in “good” condition will be in auction on December 2.

Although they should be “priceless”, each of the letters will have a starting price of 1 million pesos.

According to Bambi Harper, a cultural writer, “It’s a chance for a collector to own a part of a national hero… it reveals a very tender side of Rizal when he speaks about his sister as pinakamahal kong kapatid [my most beloved sibling].”

The letters were said to be written by Rizal while he was in Hong Kong and Dapitan.

In one of his letters, he advised his sister Maria about the latter’s marriage which was falling apart at the time.

Rizal, apparently, was known to be a man who doubted his capacity as a doctor, but in one of his letters which will be auctioned too, he expressed his pride for being doctor.

There’s also a list of requests, items he wants to be sent to him in Dapitan.

The letters will be open for viewing at the Leon Gallery in Makati starting November 25.
