How would you feel if some random person would try to put their arm around you like friends would usually do? Well, the answer for volleyball superstar Denden Lazaro is clear – she felt uncomfortable.

The former Ateneo star has been receiving quite a bashing for days now after a video, where she’s seen dodging a male fan’s attempt to put an arm around her during a photo op, went viral and stirred mixed reactions on social media.

She, along with other members of the Philippine Super Liga delegation, was in Bacolod over the weekend to play a series of games at the University of St. La Salle Gym.

It was the video, more than her and Cocolife’s big comeback play on Saturday night against Cignal, that really made news all over social media.

And if in case you have not yet watched the video of the incident that took place at the lobby of L’Fisher Hotel in Bacolod on Friday, here it is. Take a look.

The video was shared by Facebook user Marya Ge-Ann Matsunaga, which now has nearly 3 million views and over 30K shares as of posting; with netizens continually debating over Lazaro’s actions.

Because of the video, the former Ateneo Lady Eagles is under fire from critics who are accusing her of being a ‘snob’.

Finally on Sunday, Lazaro came out and made a bold move by expressing her thoughts on the issue in a series of tweets.

Her initial Twitter post reads: “There are certain situations that make a person feel uncomfortable like when random people invade someone’s private space.”

“And to me personal space is something I highly value,” she added.

But it also turns out that a lot of fans on Twitter backed her up and supported her for, well, just being herself. Take this one for example.

A netizen with a username “Camille” replied to Lazaro’s post, saying: “What would you feel if a person you don’t even know suddenly grabs you out of nowhere? Diba nakakabastos? Ramdam niyo na ba si Den?”
[Isn’t it rude? Can you now feel Den?]

“To my friends and supporters, you are my rock,” Lazaro added.

Although apologetic if she has offended anybody with her action, she expressed she isn’t sorry for being herself.
